The Yukon is where vast wilderness, quiet roads, and raw northern landscapes come together. This journey takes you deep into Canada’s north, where history, mountains, and untouched nature create an experience that feels both grounding and unforgettable.

Itinerary

Arrive in Whitehorse and settle into your accommodation before beginning your introduction to the Yukon’s capital. Take a leisurely walk through the city and discover its northern character, shaped by the wilderness and history that surround it. Visit the MacBride Museum of Yukon History to learn about the region’s past, from the Klondike Gold Rush to the people and communities who have called this land home for generations. Continue to the Yukon Visitor Information Centre for an introduction to the territory and its many wonders. Ease into the northern pace of life and prepare for the winter adventures ahead.
Set out on a scenic journey toward Kluane National Park and the spectacular mountain landscapes of southwestern Yukon. Along the way, make several stops at scenic viewpoints, where snow-covered peaks, vast valleys, and frozen lakes reveal the quiet grandeur of the North. Experience the beauty of frozen Kluane Lake, surrounded by mountains and open winter skies, and take time to appreciate the stillness of this extraordinary landscape. As the day unfolds, the journey itself becomes part of the adventure, with ever-changing views and opportunities to capture the magic of the Yukon in winter. In the evening, return toward Whitehorse and unwind at the Eclipse Nordic Hot Springs, where warm mineral waters offer the perfect contrast to the crisp northern air.
Begin the day at the Yukon Wildlife Preserve, where you can observe some of the North’s iconic wildlife in spacious natural habitats. Look for species such as moose, caribou, mountain goats, and other animals uniquely adapted to the northern climate, gaining a deeper appreciation for the wildlife that thrives in this rugged environment. In the afternoon, head into the forest for an unforgettable dog sledding experience. Meet a team of energetic sled dogs and discover the traditions behind one of the North’s most iconic ways of travelling through winter landscapes. Glide across the snow through a peaceful woodland setting near a frozen lake, surrounded by the silence and beauty of the wilderness. With a local host caring for a remarkable team of around 70 dogs, this intimate experience offers a special glimpse into the bond between mushers and their dogs, and the spirit of life in the North.
Travel south of Whitehorse toward the historic community of Carcross, where mountain scenery, frozen waterways, and rich local history come together. Take time to explore the town and discover its unique character before continuing to Emerald Lake, famous for its vivid turquoise waters in summer and its captivating winter scenery when the surrounding landscape is blanketed in snow. Continue to the Carcross Desert, a remarkable landscape of sand dunes framed by snowy mountains. Embrace the playful side of winter with a sledding adventure down the snow-covered dunes, an unexpected experience in one of the Yukon’s most distinctive natural settings. Continue farther south along scenic roads lined with frozen lakes, snowy forests, and winter waterfalls, reaching the British Columbia border area before returning to Whitehorse. It is a day filled with striking contrasts, unexpected landscapes, and the simple joy of exploring the North in winter.
Enjoy a relaxed final morning in Whitehorse with a warm coffee and a leisurely walk through the city. Take some time to browse local shops for souvenirs and pick up a few meaningful reminders of your journey through the North. After lunch, transfer to the airport for your departure, carrying home memories of snow-covered mountains, frozen lakes, northern wildlife, and the unforgettable magic of winter in the Yukon.
